Many export orders from USA and UK were received in the Expo-2005 and there was no negative impact on mining and transportation due to the current Balochistan situation. All Pakistan Marble Industries Association (APMIA) (Sindh Balochistan Zone) vice Chairman, Mohammed Jamal stated this while talking to Business Recorder.

He said that as Balochistan government have facilitated the marble industry with allocating a 100-acre area outside the city due to efforts of Managing Director Lasbela Industrial Estate and Development Authority (LIEDA) Colonel Bashir Ahmed Nadeem about six months ago, which would play a vital role in reducing unemployment in the province, Sindh government should also provide an exclusive area for marble industry ensuring the environmental safety.

Pakistan's marble industry has more potential than cotton, rice and wheat, which needs to be extracted. When asked about the items being exported more, he said, they include granite slabs and handicrafts of onyx and marble.

Jamal mentioned that in order to improve quality of products we had a meeting with Trade Commissioner of Italy Dr Emilio De Matteis regarding the import of low-cost used machines, especially mining machines, cutting tools, and gang-saw machines.
